Folded Map
A play devising and theatrical collaboration 
with Tonika Lewis johnson

This year, Rivendell Theatre gathers a group of talented, eclectic artists from across disciplines to devise a new theatrical piece, inspired by the multimedia art installation, Folded Map™ by Chicago native photographer, Tonika Lewis Johnson, which explores the results of segregation in the city by bringing together residents who live at corresponding addresses on the
North and South sides of Chicago.

 

Over the past several weeks, our core artists have been in the rehearsal studio--meeting with with artist & activist Tonika Lewis Johnson, sharing stories, reading transcripts, and crafting theatrically inspired moments in conversation with her work on the Folded Map Project. As we begin to weave these moments together in the creation of a brand new devised theatrical work, we are excited to invite you into our studio for a sneak peek into our developmental process.
