At Rivendell Theatre Ensemble internships offer a hands-on, behind-the-scenes look at how new plays are developed, produced, and brought into meaningful conversation with the community. Under the direction of Brit Cooper Robinson, Community Engagement Director, interns work at the intersection of theatre-making, storytelling, and social impact.

Interns primarily support community engagement efforts—helping to shape and facilitate post-show discussions, build partnerships with local organizations, and design audience experiences that extend the life of the play beyond the stage. Depending on the season, interns also contribute across departments, gaining exposure to box office operations, marketing, dramaturgy, and administrative work tied to major milestones like world premieres and fundraising initiatives.

Rivendell internships are collaborative and adaptive by nature. Interns are encouraged to take initiative, respond to the evolving needs of a production, and engage thoughtfully with the themes of each play. Opportunities may also include supporting new work development, such as devised theatre processes or workshops connected to projects like Folded Map.

We offer flexible, part-time internships throughout the year (including semester-based and short-term intensives), typically ranging from 10–14 hours per week or structured around a total hour commitment. These roles are ideal for individuals interested in theatre, community engagement, and using the arts as a tool for dialogue and social change.
